Kelloseppäkoulu – The Finnish School of Watchmaking

What is Kelloseppäkoulu?

Kelloseppäkoulu (The Finnish School of Watchmaking) is a professional educational institution in Leppävaara, Espoo. We train watchmakers, micromechanics, watch merchants, and precious metal artisans. Our degree titles include Watchmaker, Micromechanic and Craftsman, within our vocational degree.

The Finnish School of Watchmaking is one of the few still operating educational institutions founded by the watchmaking profession and industry companies. Close collaboration with companies (such as Rolex, IWC Schaffhausen, The Watch Group) has been an integral part of the school’s operations since its inception.

The school was founded in 1944, with this year celebrating the school’s 80th anniversary.

Our pledge is to maintain high-quality classroom teaching whilst adapting to the changing field.

Watchmaker or Micromechanic?

At our school, you can study to become a watchmaker or a micromechanic. We also train watch and jewellery merchants.

Traditional watchmaking demands finely honed manual skills.

Micromechanics will use the dexterity of a watchmaker to build the technology of the future.

LUUPPI-LEHTI

The Watchmaking School published an online magazine called LUUPPI between 2012 and 2020. The magazine's articles followed the teaching of the school and visited the workplaces of graduates of the school.
